The Journey Begins

“The innocence of children is their wisdom, the simplicity of children is their agelessness. The freshness of the child is the freshness of your consciousness, which never becomes old, which always remain’s young.” – Rajneesh

As adults I think we sometimes struggle to remember the joy and freedom we felt in childhood, those times when our minds were still completely open to new possibilities and when we looked at the world with optimism and curiosity. In the hustle and bustle of life we start to lose sight of the things that seemed so obvious back then and because of that often forget to take the time to reflect with the same wonder that we used to.

Part of the reason that I feel like my work with children has been such an eye-opening experience for me is because of how much is has reminded me about what’s truly important in life. It has allowed me to step out of my adult mind, slow down, step into my own vulnerabilities, and re-enter the land of childhood. Being around children has sparked my curiosity, sense of wonder, and compassion for others. It is what has made me feel connected and present.

Every day that I am working with the children I realize that they are changing my image not only of them, but of myself. They redefine social norms, remind me what it means to be human in a world that doesn’t always make a lot of space for that, and show me what it looks like when you allow your true self to be seen. They are constantly sharing their wisdom, their joys, and their struggles, allowing me to reflect on those things within myself.

This is what I hope to share with all of you.

I started this blog with the hope that it would give you a window into the life of children. I want to share with all of you some of the things I realize I have lost on my journey into adulthood and hopefully make a space where you can reflect on these things as well. Through my reflections I hope to connect you to the lessons and wonderings that are experienced in childhood so that you too can feel that energy. I want to encourage you to reflect on your challenge’s and your triumphs, embracing the inner child that still lives within you. Through all of this, everything I share, I hope that you too can once again explore the raw emotions and honest experiences of childhood, learning a little more about yourself along the way.
